Bangladesh’s Global Agro Network Strengthens International Cooperation with Russia
Md Moniruzzaman, the CEO and Founder of Global Agro Network, recently visited Russia as part of a strategic initiative to expand international agricultural cooperation and develop a large-scale agro-industrial partnership between Bangladesh and Russia.
During the official visit, Md Moniruzzaman held a series of high-level meetings with senior officials of the Russian government, including the Governor of Rostov Region, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Land Development, the Minister of Environment, and the Minister of International Affairs.
The discussions focused on agricultural investment, food security, sustainable development, international trade, and long-term agro-industrial collaboration. Following these meetings, both parties reached a mutual understanding and expressed their agreement to jointly establish a world-class integrated agro-based industrial project in Russia covering more than 5,000 hectares of land.
The proposed mega project is expected to become one of the region’s largest and most modern agro-industrial developments. According to project representatives, a formal agreement regarding the initiative is expected to be signed toward the end of 2026.
The project aims to introduce advanced agricultural technologies, modern farming systems, food processing industries, export-oriented production facilities, and sustainable infrastructure within a single integrated ecosystem.
The development is also expected to create significant employment opportunities, generating jobs for more than 5,000 people directly and indirectly across multiple sectors including agriculture, engineering, food processing, logistics, environmental management, and industrial operations.
Industry analysts believe the project could generate more than USD 100 million in annual business volume once fully operational, contributing significantly to regional economic growth and international agricultural trade.
The initiative marks an important milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Russia in the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors. Through this collaboration, both countries aim to promote sustainable food production, technological innovation, international investment, and long-term economic partnership.
Speaking during the visit, Md Moniruzzaman emphasized the importance of global cooperation in agriculture and highlighted the potential of the project to create a sustainable and internationally competitive agro-industrial platform capable of serving both domestic and global markets.
The upcoming agreement expected in late 2026 is anticipated to open a new chapter in Bangladesh–Russia agricultural relations and establish a landmark example of international agro-industrial collaboration.
